Brazilian supermodel Fernanda Tavares was born September 22, 1980, in Rio Grande Do Norte, Brazil. She started her modeling career at the young age of 9, appearing in local shows and at 13 she won the “Elite Look of the Year” and a year later was invited to go to Sao Paulo to pursue modeling. By the age of 17 she was signed with the Marilyn Modeling Agency and appearing on the covers of a number of international magazines including L’Officiel France; Marie Claire US, Italy and Brazil; Cosmopolitan US and Brazil and Elle France.
Fernanda has walked the runway for some of the world’s most noted designers, including Chanel, Gianni Versace, Chloe, Christian Lacroix, Missoni, Prada,Valentino, John Galliano, and Yohji Yamamoto to name just a few. She also signed a $1.3 million contract with the perfume company Guerlain and has appeared in the Victoria’s Secret catalogs and in their 2000 to 2003 and 2005 fashion shows.
Currently Fernanda works as an advertising model and also as a VJ for MTV Brazil, hosting
Missão MTV, a show modeled after Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. She enjoys jogging and swimming and counts fellow Brazilian model, Gisele Bündchen among her friends. Fernanda married Brazilian actor Murilo Rosa on July 28, 2007 and have a son named Lucas, born later that same year.
