In their first couture show without John Galliano (in 15 years), Christian Dior showed their Fall 2011 collection this morning in Paris. The fashion world has been dying to see the new direction of Dior after Galliano’s dramatic exit earlier this year, but collection has failed to impress fashion fans.
Bill Gaytten, studio head and Galliano collaborator of 23 years, stepped up to creat the collection; he was also the one to take the highly anticipated bow. However, Dior representatives have made it very clear that the bow is not any indication of Gaytten taking Galliano’s spot as Creative Director. Dior Chief Executive, Sidney Toledano, spoke to journalists after the show and gave no hint to who the successor would be. He states, “We are taking our time, we want to find a long-term solution… All options are still open.”
While the collection was visually appealing, the absence of John Galliano was apparent and he was without a doubt, sorely missed.
